Federal Appeals Court Throws Out Julie Chrisley's Conviction

Allegations of Fraud and Tax Evasion Dismissed

ATLANTA (AP) — A reality TV star's sentence for bank fraud and tax evasion has been thrown out by federal appeals judges, who ordered a new trial. Court documents obtained by local media outlets allege that Julie Chrisley, a star of the reality show "Chrisley Knows Best," was granted a new trial after the appeals court overturned her previous conviction. Julie and her husband, Todd Chrisley, were sentenced to prison in 2022 after being found guilty of various charges related to bank fraud and tax evasion. However, the appeals court ruled that the trial judge had made several errors during the proceedings, including insufficiently instructing the jury on the elements of the crimes and improperly limiting cross-examination of key witnesses. As a result of the court's decision, Julie Chrisley's conviction has been vacated, and she will now face a new trial.
